July Reading Wrap-Up

If you didn’t know this about me… I love reading books! I knew once I finally started a blog, instead of just talking about it, I wanted to include some type of bookish content. So, I will be doing consistent (hopefully) monthly reading wrap-ups. Lets start with July! This month will NOT contain any spoilers, just brief thoughts.

Now disclaimer… I am a slow reader. I do not enjoy binge reading unless it’s so good I can’t live life not knowing what happens. I need to marinate in the story and really get all the little quirks and nuance’s of it all. That being said, I only read 3 books this month…

  1. The Bright Years: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was so memorable without really trying??! You get just enough information about each plot line and character. Love all three perspectives of this family and the story it brings into one.

  2. The Wedding People: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Although this book did not have a major plot line, it dives into each character in a way that makes you think. So much was mentioned with each character, but the overall theme is really about being who you are, finding purpose, and not just living for other people. I believe we pick up some books when we need to hear what’s being said and I think this was one of those for me.

  3. Before We Were Innocent: ⭐⭐⭐

One I would not have picked up for myself but read it for my first book club! (which I am happy to be a part of) Not a thriller, rather more of a mystery/suspense. Definitely a story about toxic female friendships and explores how far you are willing to go to keep a friendship alive. Although there were good themes and some thought provoking sentences, this book left me wanting more. I read it quickly but I’m not sure I was super enthralled with it…

Next up to be read is…Such A Fun Age! Stay tuned :)
